Redrawing lines in the sand of a new map of the Muslim World

by Nayyar Hashmey

The following article by noted Canadian scholar, analyst and Director of Global Research Foundation, [an organization devoted to research on  dangerous implications of so called globalization], provides us a highly tenable prognosis on designs of Pentagon’s long term objectives in the area.

In this context, let us go back to the detailed thesis, propounded by Prof. Bernard Lewis.

Bernard Lewis is an octogenarian expert of the “Middle East” (itself an invented geopolitical term). Lewis indeed is a “master” scholar and expert on the Turks, Iranian and Arabs. But herein lies the tragedy, when Lewis wields his treasure trove of knowledge as an engine of destruction. Few have ever heard of “The Bernard Lewis Project”. In this project, Lewis urges the western policy makers to redraw borders in the whole Islamic World. A practical application of this thesis has been taken up by former US military colonel and a CIA operative, Ralph Peters, who through his theory of ‘Blood Borders’ openly advocates redrawing the borders in the Muslim Middle East including Afghanistan and Pakistan.

Right: Prof. Bernard Lewis, an octogenarian expert of the “Middle East”. Lewis is a “master” scholar and expert on the Turks, Iranian and Arabs. But herein lies the tragedy, when Lewis wields his treasure trove of knowledge as an engine of destruction. Few have ever heard of “The Bernard Lewis Project”. This project by Lewis urges the western policy makers to redraw borders in the whole Islamic World. A practical application of this thesis has been taken up by former US military colonel and a CIA operative, Ralph Peters, who through his theory of ‘Blood Borders’ openly advocates redrawing the borders in the Muslim Middle East including Afghanistan and Pakistan.

And when he talks of such schematics, he explicitly means, in the first stage:-

A destabilization of most Muslim states, by launching movements such as demands for liberty, democratic rights, expression of free opinion and then, in the guise of such pseudo democratic staged protests, introduce the so called intervention schemes and thus destabilize the area.

Orchestrate a complete chaos, confusion and anarchy in a way that the people themselves would start saying OK yes, let’s be realistic and see how we can get rid ourselves, be it through some redrawing or through installing new regimes, be they the US compliant, be they not, but let this anarchy, this confusion come to some end.

During the two world wars the Am Brits already had perfected the science of telling lies to the world to such an extent that many Germans in the WWI thought their own country at fault. See Flood’s book on ‘Hitler: Path to Power’. And according to Hitler, says Flood, this was also the cause, in addition to that great conspiracy which Hitler termed prior to the Second World War as “the stab in the back” by the Zionists. See Benjamin H. Freedman’s speech at Willard Hotel in Washington D.C. here, here, here, and here.

In the former case Hitler succinctly explained how the Allies’ war propaganda had already demoralized the German soldiers and officers, who already were thinking that they were fighting a war which was not theirs, a war which was Kaiser’s and they, the soldiers were the fodder for latter’s cannons.

Military men say, offence is the best defence, so did the Am Brits by demonizing Hitler’s propaganda minister as the originator of “THE BIG LIE”, whereas the fact is that the power of the BIG LIE was already known to the Americans and the Brits, which they successfully employed against Germans in both wars. Being more cognizant of the power of propaganda, they labeled all sorts of nasty propaganda techniques upon the Nazi Germans. Not that the Nazis can be absolved of using all tools of Realpolitik to meet their agenda of ‘Lebensraum’, but the imperialists like Britain and its later day successor the US too cannot be exonerated from having used the power of the BIG LIE to its maximum advantage.

The US then successfully used this tool against the Soviets in the cold war era and after the cold war, having attained the sole super power status, is using the same BIG LIE against its former Mujahideen fighters, who helped her achieve that status, when the US was able to give the Soviets their Vietnam in Afghanistan.

Coming back again to Prof Chossudovsky’s analysis: Having this great tool of dis- and misinformation, the military and the financial means of the west coupled with the logistic and intelligence support of a very important secular, yet essentially a Muslim state i.e. the Republic of Turkey, not only the west contemplates to succeed in their planning of destabilizing the Muslim World, [on the lines suggested by Bernard Lewis, Ralph Peters etc,] but in the end might also attempt redraw borders in the region that will ensure the complete hegemony of the Am Brits in the oil rich Islamic world.

Right: Lt. Col.[R] Ralph Peters, the former US army officer & CIA operative, an Islamophob & a staunch proponent of the destabilization theory in which amongst other Muslim states, he calls for a division by ethnicity of Pakistan, citing that “Islam has not been enough to unite Sindhis & Punjabis, Balochis & Pashtuns.” He then further harps on his obnoxious proposal & says, “We needn’t launch an endless war to fix the mess Europeans in pinstriped trousers left us – but we’d damned well better accept that, when we expend blood and treasure to prop up phony states, we are standing on the tracks in front of a speedy train of  history”. In a column for Armchair General Magazine, he again wrote in support for regime changes in Syria, Iran & Pakistan.
By doing this, they not only have planned for success in their evil desires but in the end even Turkey herself may become a prey to such evil schemes, for CIA already has many cards in its bag like the Kurdish aspiration to have an independent Kurd state in the area [Kurds are living as scattered people in different countries like Iran, Iraq, Syria and Turkey].

Another card will be the Turkish military which has a strong secular but power infested tradition; no matter howsoever & to whatsoever extent Erdogan may try to Islamise his military. I wish I could be wrong in my assessment, but unfortunately in the entire Muslim world, if a General is picked up by the CIA to launch an armed revolt, a coup d’état against his civilian leadership, who is there to stop him. We have seen this happening umpteen times in the whole Islamic world right from Egypt, Iraq, Libya Pakistan and the list goes on and on.

So on one hand we have the oil rich Islamic states, which need to be brought into the US line of economic fiefdom, like they have done in Iraq. And on the other are the oil pipelines which act as lifeline for transporting oil and gas to an energy starved industrialized world. Its here, that besides Afghanistan, Pakistan too comes into a highly vulnerable state i.e. to fall into US machinations of destabilisation. The insurgency in Balochistan has already taken serious proportions. Why because the pipelines that may take Central Asian gas and oil to the industrialized world cannot be made secure for the west’s economic interests until and unless the corridor [of which Balochistan forms the essential hub] comes under western control. Hence efforts are underway to truncate Pakistan in a way that it becomes a nonentity in the area, and then as the Punjab folk goes Galliyan ho jan sunjian, te wich Mirza yar phiray. In other words there will be no power to oppose the imperialists to get their dreams of controlling the world through controlling the world energy sources.

In this scenario, Pakistan’s position needs no further emphasis for its very close to China, another super power in the making. Balochistan as an independent state will be much easier to control because Baloch society is dominated by a tribal culture where the Sardars rule the roost. Hence to buy out some Sardars or to subdue them, through military means would not be a problem at all.

Looking into the scenario presented by Prof. Chossudovsky, I fully agree to the thesis he presents i.e.  an attack on Syria by western powers [learning from initial miscalculations they made in  Libya] will be done in such a precise,  win win manner that any anti-Israeli regime in the Muslim world would not be  allowed to survive.

Once Syria is in line, it would not be much difficult to take NATO to its next target i.e. Iran. Because once Iran too comes under American control, US will have a complete hold over world energy resources.

Simultaneously as Iran comes under control, next target will be Pakistan. Half of their objective is already on the card through such US created surrogate Islamic forces as Al-Qaeda and so many other outfits having some sort of Islamic label to kill two birds with one stone.

Unfortunately one of the highly venerated dynasties in the Muslim world, the House of Saud is funding all such insurgencies by having a feeling that they are creating more and more Salfi [loyalist] Muslims, which would make it easier, for them to have sympathies to keep their kingdom in tact. By having keys of the two holy mosques, they already have an emotional, faith ridden clout amongst Muslim masses in a way they like best for them. With more and more Salfis gaining power, the House of Saud will be far more convenient to have compliant kings, Ameers and presidents who will be Muslim in the name but serving the interests of the Sauds and those of the Western imperialists.

And finally about Turkey. I have a great respect for that land of the intrepid Turks. They have through thick and thin remained with us. Apart from my very sincere friendly relations with two Indians [of Hindu faith], I remember during my student days in Vienna and Cologne, where a large Turkish workforce was employed in rebuilding these two German speaking states.

In those days while strolling in a park, a man would come to me and ask, in his sign language and broken German from which country I belonged. And when I said, from Pakistan, his other question used to be “Mohammadner?’ and when I said yes, his eyes used to brighten up and through his sign language he would convey to me how much Turks love Pakistan.  And it was not a stray case with some Gastarbeiters of Austria and Germany, the Turks as a people in whichever capacity they are, wherever they are and whosoever they are, they love Pakistan and we too love that great nation of Turks. But am unable to understand the present policy of the Turkish pro Islamic government, who on one hand is trying to forge strong diplomatic and political ties with countries of the Middle East but on the other, embraces the imperialists and the Israelis to serve the interests of the western hegemonists.

Question that irks me is: once the western imperialists succeed in their endevour to subdue the oil rich Islamic world, would they not discard Turkey in the same manner as they did with the Soviets [their allies] after end of the WWII, the way they did discard the Mujahideen who overnight were termed as terrorists and many amongst them were adopted as the surrogate armies fighting the cause of US imperialists in the name of Islam.

Whereas Ahmadinejad is moving cautiously and like a true patriot is playing his cards so astutely that he has survived all the machinations of Bush Junior to Barack Hosein Obama. But once all his neighbours will be sitting in the opposite camp, what then will be his position.

Now this is the worst case scenario but then there is another aspect, much heavier and the mother of all aspects; that is, the strategy adopted by the Pentagon does appear to be meticulously calculated to meet the agenda of western imperialism, but as my Canadian friend Gulam Mitha says, who will foot the bill of these small wars that might end up in the great World War III.

American finance is already in bad shape. China holds so much of US finance in shape of credit bonds that to finance such wars does not appear feasible but the coterie that runs the United States, doesn’t seem to be cognizant of the problems that beset the commoners in the United States.

Wars benefit this coterie and hence why not wars. As far Obama, my American friend Steve Gaylord sent me a piece, a joke, but just a joke.

One of the best explanations I have seen yet –

While suturing a cut on the hand of a 75 year old rancher, who’s hand was caught in the gate while working cattle, the doctor struck up a conversation with the old man…Eventually the topic got around to Obama and his role as our president.

The old rancher said, ‘Well, ya know, Obama is a ‘Post Turtle”..

Not being familiar with the term, the doctor asked him, what a ‘post turtle’ was.

The old rancher said, ‘When you’re driving down a country road and you come across a fence post with a turtle balanced on top, that’s a ‘post turtle’.

The old rancher saw the puzzled look on the doctor’s face so he continued to explain. ‘ “You know he didn’t get up there by himself, he doesn’t belong up there, he doesn’t know what to do while he’s up there, he’s elevated beyond his ability to function, and you just wonder what kind of dumb ass put him up there to begin with.”
